Plasma volume contraction reduces atrial natriuretic peptide after four days of hypobaric hypoxia exposure

چکیده
We investigated whether low arterial oxygen tension ([Formula: see text]) or hypoxia-induced plasma volume (PV) contraction, which reduces central blood (BV) and atrial distension, explain reduction in circulating natriuretic peptide (ANP) after prolonged hypoxic exposure. Ten healthy males were exposed for 4 days to hypobaric hypoxia corresponding an altitude of 3,500 m. PV changes determined by carbon monoxide rebreathing. Venous concentrations midregional proANP (MR-proANP) measured before at the end At latter time point, measurement was repeated 1) restoration [Formula: text] breathing a hyperoxic gas mixture 30 min 2) BV fluid infusion. Correspondingly, left ventricular end-diastolic (LVEDV), area (LAA), right (RAA) ultrasound exposure both infusion Hypoxic reduced MR-proANP from 37.9 ± 18.5 24.5 10.3 pmol/L ( P = 0.034), LVEDV 107.4 33.5 91.6 26.3 mL 0.005), LAA 15.8 4.9 13.3 4.2 cm 2 0.007), RAA 16.2 3.1 14.3 3.5 0.001). Hyperoxic did not affect (24.8 12.3 pmol/L, 0.890). Conversely, restored LVEDV, LAA, near-baseline values (108.0 29.3 mL, 17.2 5.7 , respectively, > 0.05 vs. baseline) increased 29.5 0.010 preinfusion 0.182 baseline). These findings support that ANP is least partially attributed whereas does seem contribute.

Atrial natriuretic peptide levels and plasma volume contraction in acute alveolar hypoxia.
Arterial oxygen tensions (PaO2), atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) concentrations, and circulating plasma volumes (PV) were measured in anesthetized rats ventilated with room air or 15, 10, or 8% O2 (n = 5-7). After 10 min of ventilation, PaO2 values were 80 +/- 3, 46 +/- 1, 32 +/- 1, and 35 +/- 1 Torr and plasma immunoreactive ANP (irANP) levels were 211 +/- 29, 229 +/- 28, 911 +/- 205, and 4,3...

متن کاملStability of plasma atrial natriuretic peptide after storage.
natriuretic peptides are stored in solutions (0.9% saline, phosphate-buffered saline, etc), their storage life is markedly less. When stored for 6 months at -80TC, the biologic activity as reflected by natriuresis or diuresis when infused into animals8 or humans9 is no longer present in approximately 25% of the peptides thus stored. When this storage is continued for 8 months, 75% of the stored...
متن کاملAtrial natriuretic peptide levels in plasma and in cardiac tissues after chronic hypoxia in rats.
1. Atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) levels were measured in cardiac tissues and in plasma from adult rats exposed to chronic alveolar hypoxia for periods of 2 h, 24 h and 7 days. Levels were also measured in rats that were maintained in hypoxia for 7 days and then returned to air for 24 h. 2. Plasma ANP was not altered at 2 h but was significantly increased at both 24 h and at 7 days. Plasma AN...
متن کاملEvaluation of Serum Levels of N-terminal Pro Brain Natriuretic Peptide and Atrial Natriuretic Peptide in Neonates with Respiratory Distress
Background: Acute respiratory distress (ARD) is a critical respiratory failure due to lung injury of neonates leading to the clinical appearance of poor lung compliance. The aimed of the study was to evaluate the diagnostic values in differentiating respiratory from heart diseases with using of N-terminal pro brain natriuretic peptide (NT-pro BNP) and Atrial natriuretic peptide(ANP) in neonates...
